Senator McNerney Visits Coulomb Solutions to Spotlight Mobile Battery Storage as Solution for Clean Energy Infrastructure
LIVERMORE, CA — September 14, 2026 — California Senator Jerry McNerney (5th District) visited Coulomb Solutions Inc. (CSI) on September 8 to discuss support for CSI’s work to address a critical gap in electric grid infrastructure. CSI manufactures mobile Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) that combine high-capacity energy storage with Megawatt Charging System (MCS) capability, providing a transportable source of high-power DC energy. Rather than requiring megawatt-level electrical infrastructure at every commercial EV charging location, a CSI Mobile BESS can be charged where sufficient power is available and then deployed to fleets, depots, jobsites, ports, terminals, and other locations where limited grid access creates a bottleneck. With some customers waiting more than two years for utility upgrades, CSI’s Mobile BESS can help support commercial EV charging, heavy-duty truck depots, drayage and port operations, data centers, remote construction sites, entertainment and sports events, and military operations.

CSI’s Mobile BESS offers an effective transitional infrastructure strategy. Senator Jerry McNerney has long championed advances in electrical energy and utility grid infrastructure. Before serving in Congress, McNerney spent more than 20 years as an engineer and consultant in the energy and clean energy industries, helping develop advanced wind technologies and wind turbines. From 2006 to 2023, he served in Congress, including on the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and the Committee on Energy and Commerce.
Jerry McNerney was elected to the Senate in November 2024. His 5th District includes Alameda County’s Tri-Valley area and all of San Joaquin County. He has chaired the Artificial Intelligence Caucus and the Congressional Grid Innovation Caucus, and he authored the AI in Government Act.
