CATL claims new 5C battery lasts 1.8M km, even under ultra-fast charging

CATL shared details of its latest 5C ultra-fast charging long-life battery in an official video published on January 29, 2026. In the video titled 5C Charging: 1,000,000 KM Made Easy, the company states that the battery “retains 80% of its capacity after 3,000 full charge-discharge cycles under ideal conditions,” equivalent to a theoretical driving distance of approximately 1.8 million kilometers. CATL notes that this cycle life is about six times the current industry average and may exceed the vehicle’s lifespan, as reported by IT-home.
